We have a hope

This past weekend was the funeral for my friend's mum. My two very dear friends lost their mum after heart surgery and a stint in rehab. We really thought she was recovering, but she went home to be with the Lord a few days ago.

It was sad of course knowing that she had passed on, but bless God for the hope that we have in Jesus. Her funeral was a total celebration and to some it almost looked incredulous that we could raise hands, sing and praise God in the midst of a situation like that.

But............God's word............

1 Thessalonians 4:13 & 14 says, "Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest, who have no hope. We believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in Him."

Isn't that a glorious hope that for those who know Jesus as Lord and Savior, that death no longer has a sting and the grave no longer has victory over us?

I am so grateful for God's word, that in the midst of sorrow, we can find joy.

In the midst of turmoil, we can find peace.

In the midst of death, we can find life.

Friends, never, ever stray from God's word.
It will fulfill every need that you can ever have. It is power, it is spirit and it is life.

Blessings,
Vickie

I am sorry for your friend's loss, Vicky
What you wrote is so true. We do have hope.
And He is there for us now, especially when we are hurting.
He brings comfort and peace through His presence and His word. All we have to do is ask.

Isn't it great to know that a funeral to a Christian is not the end but a beginning to something even more extraordinary!

Vickie,

I can't find an email, so I'm responding back through your blog. Thank you for opening your heart and welcoming me into your home, your day and for sharing life with me. I am nothing without Him, and so I am writing my life verses on my heart/memory. 1 Timothy 1:15-16 NIV

Love you,
Yolanda
