First day of spring......still no life.

Today March 20th signals a new season. Today is the first day of spring. However looking out the window at the huge cluster of trees on the opposite side of the road, all thoughts of spring are far far from my mind.

The trees are so dry, they have no leaves whatsoever on them, no blossoms, no flowers, they move slightly as if groaning when the breeze touches them. They just have no life at all.

I look at them and I think, you know, even though these trees look so lifeless, in a few weeks they will be unrecognizable. They will start to blossom almost overnight, then leaves will come, then flowers will come and pretty soon they will be a sight to behold.

I see my life like that sometimes. There are times when it seems like nothing is happening in me. I feel a bit disconnected from God, I don't feel as though I am bearing any fruit and my spirit just seems to be dry.

However we serve a God that's always at work. Even as we look at those trees and hardly see any life, something is going on. There's a process that's going on deep down in the roots of every tree. A process that causes life to literally spring forth.

The word says that God clothes the lilies and the grass of the field. He causes the trees to bear fruit. He causes to snow to fall in the winter to help prepare the earth for the beauty of spring.

How much more is He at work in us, even when nothing seems to be happening?

Even in the bleakness of winter the trees look up to Him. They continue to declare His glory.

God is never idle. As we continue to draw close to Him, commune with Him daily, He does His work. His word is alive even when we don't feel it, and so as we read and study, it starts to renew our minds, it starts to cut and mold and shape every area that we give over to God.

We must go through dry seasons to come into the spring of our lives.

Keep your head looking up to Jesus and keep your hand firmly in His. Winter is about to pass and spring is in the air.

Blessings,
Vickie
